 Our Lifehouse Detox Programme explained

A period of dietary cleansing is an excellent way to support the body’s detoxification processes and replace potentially harmful substances with more desirable alternatives. Even the healthiest among us will have toxins residing in our bodies, taken in from our food, drink and the environment. The best time to detox is around a change of season especially in Spring, a time traditionally associated with rejuvenation. A full moon is also considered a good time for the release of old habits and debris.

Detoxification is a process whereby toxins from the body are removed by the main eliminatory organs. These are the liver, lungs, kidneys, colon and skin. Processed foods, alcohol, caffeine, pollution, household cleaning products, paints, solvents, perfumes, hairsprays, certain medications and smoking all contribute to our daily toxic load.

When you remove the normal workload from the digestive system then you allow your detoxifying organs to eliminate stored waste and toxins.  While this is happening you may experience some symptoms as the toxins move through and out of your body. Afterwards you feel great! Simple!

Signs that you may need to detox!

Sometimes your need for detox can be signaled by body symptoms. These might include - dark circles under your eyes, coated tongue, abdominal bloating, bad breath, strong body odour, poor skin tone, insomnia, constipation, foggy brain, depression, low libido

The body naturally wants to clean itself and heal. Given the right environment it can achieve this and maintain a healthy balance.

The Lifehouse Detox residential programme allows the body the time and space to begin this healing and detoxifying process. Our Detox For Life package is based on a 3 night stay but can be extended for up to 10 nights if required.

How It Works

Upon booking, each guest is emailed pre-cleansing guidelines to ensure they are well primed to engage in a cleansing diet regime. Although entirely optional, it is recommended that all stimulants are removed prior to the stay, especially caffeine, so that any withdrawal headaches are well out of the way.

On the day of arrival guests check-in at 3.00pm and have a pre-scheduled Arrival Consultation to go through the programme and receive their Detox Kit. The rest of the day allows for unwinding and finding their way around. Dinner is 3 courses from the normal Lifehouse dinner menu so that guests can ease into the detox gradually. The Lifehouse Detox programme begins in earnest the following morning with delivery of fresh lemon and water to the room.

The first day of the detox is transitional to allow the guest to become used to a lighter, cleaner diet including fruit, soup, salads, juices and smoothiesas well as exclusion of stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol. Guests also enjoy the first of the three spa treatments included in the package. This is the House Detox, a scrub with mits followed by a caffeine based product designed to tackle cellulite finished with lymphatic drainage.

The second day of the programme takes the guest deeper and focuses mainly upon vegetable based juices, smoothies, soups and consommés. If a guest wishes to do a longer cleanse then this day can be repeated for up to 8 days. By now the guest will be feeling the effects of cleansing and energy levels may be quite low which is perfectly normal. Day 2 is the day to be kind to yourself with permission to just read, sleep and be pampered. Lifehouse purposely schedules the two hour signature Oriental Bathing Experience on this day as a wonderful relaxing indulgence.

The final day of the programme eases the guest back to a normal diet with easy to digest foods, soups, juices and smoothies. Reflexology is the final treatment and really helps the body to remove toxins and restore the body back to balance. Guests depart at 6.30pm after the final detox dinner.

Throughout the programme each guest is supported and monitored by a Lifehouse wellness consultant including follow up and farewell consultations as well as information on how to carry on at home after the detox.
