Lifehouse is certified as “Cancer Aware”

Lifehouse Spa & Hotel is very proud to have been recognised by Wellness for Cancer for meeting the standards required to provide spa treatments and therapies for guests who have experienced, or are living with, cancer.

Wellness for Cancer is the first organisation to establish standardised, objective, cancer-focused training for the spa and wellness industry.

The Wellness for Cancer Badge means Lifehouse Spa & Hotel is certified and easily identified as a provider of safe, therapeutic services for people who are living with cancer.

Julie Bach, Executive Director of Wellness for Cancer said: “We are excited that Lifehouse Spa & Hotel is committed to providing clients with the safe and effective services that will help them manage this chronic disease and lead healthier lifestyles.”

Julie added, “Studies show the power of touch can decrease stress, anxiety, depression, pain and fatigue for both cancer patients and survivors, and these individuals receive many benefits from wellness and spa services."

Led by Sue Davis, the Resident Naturopath, the Lifehouse team is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for anyone with, or recovering from, cancer.

The Lifehouse spa therapists are the only practitioners in the UK to have been trained by the NHS Christie Trust so that they can offer the Lifehouse Recovery Treatment which is specifically tailored to suit each individual’s symptoms and degree of cancer.

The Recovery Treatment features a technique called HEARTS which stands for ‘Hands On, Empathy, Aromatherapy, Textures and Sound’ and focuses on personalising  traditional spa treatments to suit each individual’s needs.  The Recovery Treatment is especially beneficial if you are feeling anxious and stressed.  The aim of the Lifehouse Recovery Treatment is to offer deep relaxation, calmness and a sense of balance and empowerment at a time of stress and uncertainty.

Sue Davis says: “As a progressive spa we feel it is important to offer our guests with cancer, or in recovery, the opportunity to experience therapeutic treatments the same as any other guest who visits Lifehouse.    Human touch has a profound healing effect which is why we are keen to remove the barriers commonly associated with treating people with cancer in the spa environment.”

The beauty of the Recovery Treatment is that you don’t have to decide what you fancy until you are in the Treatment Room.  Your spa therapist will talk to you about how you are feeling and then perform a truly holistic and personalised treatment that responds to all of your senses and suits your individual needs. In the allotted treatment time it is possible to enjoy a mini-facial, scalp massage and relaxing foot massage.  Or you may choose to have a deeply relaxing back massage with some Reiki to balance your energy.  Any combination is possible and the treatment can include oils or be performed whilst you remain fully clothed.

Our Recovery Break is designed for anyone wanting 2 nights or more to rest and recuperate. This Recovery Break includes two recovery treatments along with a welcome consultation with Sue our Naturopath, daily fresh pressed juices or smoothies and full board dinner. We also have yoga classes, informal nutritional talks and meditation sessions to give you the support and nurturing you need to feel better.

So, if you are recovering from cancer, or know someone that is, the Lifehouse Recovery Treatment or Recovery Break may be just right for you. For a reassuring telephone call and to find out more, phone Sue on 01255 863444
