New Menus at Lifehouse

You may have noticed that our menus have had a bit of re-vamp recently.  This is all thanks to our fabulous new Executive Chef, Ugo Simonelli, who has based the new menus around clean Mediterranean flavours inspired by his Italian background.

Born and raised in Italy, Ugo has been working in professional kitchens around the world since he was a teenager. Over the years working both in the UK and abroad, he has developed his own signature style inspired by the vibrant, fresh flavours of the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

His creations range from elegant, Italian-influenced dishes to perfectly prepared classic options as well as healthier fare. He uses ingredients that are fresh, seasonal and sourced from farmers, fisherman and growers based within East Anglia wherever possible.

There are a few different eating spots around Lifehouse. We have The Restaurant at Lifehouse and the Bar at Lifehouse situated within our grounds which all offer a range of different delicacies.

We like to think of it as foodie heaven, but here’s the lowdown on what each offer. Ready to take your taste buds on a Mediterranean fling?

The Restaurant

The Restaurant at Lifehouse is a light, airy, relaxed space with fantastic views looking out over the beautiful historic Listed Thorpe Hall Gardens. Dining in the Lifehouse surroundings is the perfect start or end to your spa day.

Breakfast has lots on offer including fresh and poached fruits, yoghurts, cereals, freshly baked croissants, hot buttered toast, full-cooked breakfast or selections from our fresh cook options. Gluten-free and dairy-free options are also available. Weekends are always busy at breakfast time, so make sure to come down before 9am to miss the late morning rush!

The dinner menu has been created with an Italian influence and style with dishes such as Tuscan Style Sausages with Italian Peppers, Mozzarella Bites, Courgette Spaghetti with Mushroom Ragout, Italian Cured Meats with tear and share bread and Fresh Fillet of Sea Bream.

There are plenty of creative healthy options too such as the spectacular Harissa Chicken Salad with Cannellini Beans and a Soft Shell Crab with Mango and Ginger Salad. No boring salads here!

If you’re after some good old cosy comfort food, we’re still serving up our classics such as Chicken Curry, Fish Pie, Breaded Scampi, Venison Burger and Ugo’s Classic Lasagne with garlic bread. Nom nom we hear you say!

With plenty dishes suitable for vegetarians, vegans or those with special dietary requirements or food allergies / intolerance

Lots of our spa break packages include a 3 course dinner or you can easily add on dinner if you’re only on a B&B package – just don’t forget to pre book a table with reservations as the restaurant is always busy.

Live locally and looking for a good dinner spot? We’re also open for non-residents, so put down the cooking utensils and pop round for a casual bite to eat.

The Bar

The Bar at Lifehouse is a comfortable and casual space with sofas and armchairs, perfect for relaxing with the morning papers or a good book. Relax between treatments, catch up with your friends and treat yourself to a morning coffee, cocktail or a bottle of wine.

We’re lucky that the sun is often shining at Lifehouse and we get some of the best weather in the country during the summer months!  Lots of guests chose to take a seat on the Sun Terrace and enjoy an alfresco Cappuccino, Afternoon Tea or a cocktail before dinner whilst soaking up the rays.

Our new Lite Bites and Sharing Platters are served in the Bar and on the Sun Terrace. Enjoy bites such as Bruschetta with Buffalo Mozzarella, Flat Bread with Mediterranean Vegetables, Charcuterie platter or a Classic Club Sandwich.

We also serve our classic Afternoon Tea in the Bar. Some of our spa day packages already include Afternoon Tea or you can add it on during your stay and enjoying scones, sandwiches, cakes and fancies.  For a special occasion, add a bottle of chilled Prosecco or a celebration bottle of Taittinger Champagne.

The buffet lunch menu served in the restuarant has been crafted by Ugo and Sue Davis, our Resident Naturopath, to provide a broad selection of balanced healthy offerings.

The buffet is a great chance to try lots of new dishes and is perfect for those looking for some inspiration for healthy meals to make at home. The menu includes delicious salads, hot dishes such as Lamb Tagine, Curry and Spicy Sausages, different breads and filo pastries with goat’s cheese and spinach.

And don’t forget to try our sweet treats such as our famous Gluten Free Chocolate Cake and the White Chocolate Raspberry Bombs. They really are to die for but don’t just take our word for it…you’ll have to come and try them for yourself!

Many of our spa days already include a buffet lunch. If you’re on an overnight spa break then lunch is not included, so you can chose to either have the buffet lunch or something from the Lite Bites Menu instead.

So there you have it – everything you need to know about dining at Lifehouse. We hope to see you soon.
