Welcome To Foodie Heaven
From the moment you arrive at Lifehouse, you’ll discover that our ethos is based on a holistic approach to your health and wellbeing. This approach runs throughout the entire hotel, including the restaurant, where taste, balance and nutrition are at the forefront of our thinking! At Lifehouse, we are different from other spas and we happily cater for the wide ranging needs of our guests. So whether you want to cleanse with freshly prepared juices and superfood salads or enjoy fine white wine and a chocolate dessert, it’s up to you!
As more people cut gluten from their diet, our menus have taken a slant towards ‘free from’ options. For years, gluten-free was a niche category for those with health issues but now enthusiasm is growing – probably thanks to high-profile fans such as Gwyneth Paltrow who claim gluten-free diets make them feel better and less tired. As a result of this popularity, we offer plenty of meals free from gluten, sugar and dairy, especially for guests who have chosen any of our Wellness programmes.
We have both The Restaurant at Lifehouse and the Spa Café situated within our grounds and different spa packages offer various meal options. We like to think of it as foodie heaven, but here’s the lowdown so you can decide what’s right for you.
The Restaurant at Lifehouse
Dining in the inspiring Lifehouse surroundings is the perfect way to break up your busy spa day or to make an evening of it. When you dine at our restaurant you’ll soon see we like to focus on giving you a flavoursome and memorable food experience served up in a relaxed atmosphere.
Our menu offers traditional fare but with a modern imaginative twist, all created by our Head Chef Jamie Murch. Having travelled across Britain cooking, Jamie took the helm at Lifehouse during 2012 and he has completely reinvented and repositioned the menus to give a British Gastro feel using fresh seasonal East Anglian produce. The feedback from our guests is so positive that Jamie is starting to earn recognition for the Lifehouse Restaurant as THE place to eat. Expect to see sea bass, fillet of beef, risotto, curry and carbonara on the menu…with some Maris Piper chunky chips thrown in for good measure!
Even our breakfast is completely varied to suite all tastes. From fresh fruit and Bircher Muesli to croissants and hot buttered toast, right through to a full cooked breakfast, there is something for everyone to enjoy. And just in case you’ve not come across it before, the Lifehouse Bircher Muesli is a healthy twist on a traditional Swiss recipe. It’s made with porridge oats, raisins and dessicated coconut soaked in apple juice and enriched with coconut milk so it’s rich in protein, energy-providing carbs and vitamins / antioxidants. Because we use coconut milk, and not cream as they do in Switzerland, it is lactose free and delicious.
The Bar at Lifehouse is the perfect place to relax between treatments where you can enjoy a morning coffee or treat yourself to a delicious afternoon tea. Just outside the Bar is our Terrace area which is a perfect sun trap, even in the Spring and Autumn - this part of Lifehouse is a real favourite with our regular guests.
The Spa Café
Up on the first floor we have our Spa Café which opens onto a peaceful balcony overlooking the gardens. The buffet menu has been crafted by Jamie and Sue Davis, Resident Naturopath, to provide a broad selection of balanced healthy offerings. The buffet is a great chance to try lots of new dishes and is perfect for those looking for some inspiration for healthy meals to make at home. The menu has delicious salads, healthy hot dishes such as Thai vegetable curry or chicken and potato tikka and sweet treats such as our famous gluten free brownies and mixed fruit pavlovas. They really are to die for but don’t just take our word for it…you’ll have to come and try them for yourself!
So there you have it – everything you need to know about dining at Lifehouse. We hope to see you soon.
Love Life, Live Well.
