Viscount & Lady Byng lived at Thorpe Hall and nurtured the beautiful gardens that are still enjoyed today

To mark the centenary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge this April, of which our Field Marshall The Viscount Byng of Vimy led the Canadians to victory during the First World War, we will be holding an exciting exhibition of Viscount Byng’s life and would be delighted if you could join us for this special occasion.

Tuesday 16th May 2017, 11am

Join us in the Thorpe Suite to honour the life and times of Viscount Byng, in association with Frinton Memorial Club and Beaumont Church.

Acclaimed speaker William Franklin will start the event with an interesting and information talk about the history of Viscount Byng and the Battle of Vimy Ridge. You are then welcomed to enjoy refreshments and to view the exhibition which will include fascinating artefacts and correspondence from Viscount Byng’s life, followed by a garden tour around the Lifehouse Gardens, which are of course The Byng’s former estate.

Lifehouse is proud to sponsor the restoration of Viscount Byng’s banner which is being lovingly restored through Beaumont Church, The Byng’s regular place of worship, and once back to its former glory the banner will have a permanent place within the Church.

This event is free and open to the local community so please feel free to bring a friend.

So that we have an idea of numbers, please kindly RSVP to Steffi.d@lifehouse.co.uk by 8th May.
